How do solar eclipses affect animal behaviour and the environment, according to scientific studies?

During the sudden drop in light and temperature that occurs during an eclipse, it is common to observe changes in the environment: some birds fall silent or return to their nests, and nocturnal insects become active, believing that night has fallen. Ethology studies this phenomenon, and various citizen science projects are currently being promoted in which the public can contribute by recording and sharing observations of wildlife reactions and meteorological changes in their local environment.
